Beach Shelter

We’ve had a great day out today, going off to Cayton Bay and Whitby. The day didn’t start too well though. The plan was to go to a well known fast food outlet for breakfast but after waiting at the counter for ten minutes after ordering, we did the non British thing and asked for our money back and left. We usually get great service here but for some reason, today they were making a right old mess of everything with customers coming back to the counter to complain while we were waiting.

Another snag we hit today was on the beach at Cayton bay when trying to put up the beach shelter. We know now that we should have tried this first in the comfort of our own home with no audience and no wind.

We didn’t have a clue what we were doing as the thing was blown inside out, outside in and upside down. Trying to get the poles in position we managed to splinter one of them so we moved to another location with less wind. Unfortunately I left the pegs behind and we had to go beach combing to get these back. Finally the thing was up, albeit not very stable and was swaying violently in the wind. We ended up collapsing the thing and sitting on it instead. When we got back to the top of the cliff I left it in the bin.

Today Eric is nine weeks old and he’s really settling in now, doing the hit and run thing on Toddy that Toddy does to Misty. There is a hierarchy with a group of tom cats and Toddy does put Eric in his place from time to time just as Misty did with Toddy. It’s heartbreaking to watch but we cannot get involved because that will just make it worse. If things seem to be getting out of hand then we have a water spray to break things up.

Anyway, it’s time to snuggle up on the sofa, I’ll leave you with a few snaps taken this week.

Paul
