Departmental Shuffle

Why is it that, in this country at least, if you need something sorting out that involves more than one department, you are guaranteed to be shuttled between all the departments for as long as is humanly possible. Take today, we have to take time off work to turn up for an appointment, only to have to wait an hour before we see anyone, if this was a normal commercial business, they wouldn't have any customers left. After counting carpet tiles for what seems like an eternity we get to see someone, only they haven't received the information they wrote for 3 months ago. Rather than get in touch with us to cancel the appointment while they chase this up, they thought it would be a laugh to have us waste 3 hours of our day as they think we might have miscounted the tiles last time. On top of that, they think the information may have arrived but it might be with the other department, who are 50 yards across the car park and only a phone call away but they didn't think of that until we pointed it out. So now, I imagine, or I hope, that they are trying to find the said information and discuss between the two departments before we turn up next month to count the ceiling tiles in the other building.

May the farce be with you . . . .

Here's one that tickled Paul.........

Recently a "Husband Super Store" opened where women could go and choose a husband from among many Men. It was laid out in five floors, with the men increasing in positive attributes as you ascended. The ONLY rule was, once you opened the door to any floor, you HAD to choose a man from that floor; if you went up a floor, you couldn't go back down except to leave the place , never to return. A couple of girlfriends went to he shopping centre to find some husbands...

FIRST FLOOR
The door had a sign saying, "These men have jobs and love kids" The women read the sign and said, "well that's better than not having a job or not loving kids, but I wonder what's further up?" So up they went.

SECOND FLOOR
The sign read, "these men have high paying jobs, love kids and are extremely good looking". "Hmmm," sad the ladies, "but I wonder what's further up?"

THIRD FLOOR
This sign read, "These men have high paying jobs, are extremely good looking, love kids and help with the housework." "Wow", said the women, "very tempting". But there was another floor, so further up they went.

FOURTH FLOOR
This door had a sign saying, "These men have high paying jobs, love kids, are extremely good looking, help with the housework and have a strong romantic streak." "oh, mercy me," they cried, "Just think what must be awaiting us further on! So up to the fifth floor they went.

FIFTH FLOOR
The sign on the door said, "this floor is empty and exists only to prove that women are f**king impossibile to please. The exit is to your left, we hope you fall down the stairs".

Surely it can't be only Wednesday.....roll on Easter..... I need a holiday

Panic over!

I've found another pub who can cater for our wedding reception in December, the landlady seems very nice and they have no plans to retire any time soon! We'll be popping round with a deposit asap this time and make sure we don't loose this one. We're both very relived to have got this sorted out so quickly after worrying about it all night.

Next on the list is a wedding cake, we've got something special in mind, we just need to find someone who can make it....

Paul
Spanner in the works

We got some news we didn't want last night, I called in to check the arrangements for our wedding reception and the pub that we have booked to run the bar have retired so we now have a venue but no bar..... disaster We're not sure what we're going to do yet, it's going to be difficult arranging something else with it being at Christmas, but we'll sort something out this week.

After hearing that news, Debbie rang to check on the wedding dress and thankfully we have chosen wisely here and everything is still on track with fittings scheduled for September and we're calling in at the weekend to pick up some samples of the material

Hopefully there will be no more surprises in store before the wedding, with less than 9 months to go!

Here is todays ickle story, hope you enjoy....

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered, "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Well what a day its been, busy busy busy, not stopped.....

I bloody hate mondays...lol....

Only another 4 days till weekend and then only 4 days to work next week and we are off over Easter, YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE.....LOL...

Paul is busy finding telephone numbers for the cake etc for our wedding and Im doing nothing...lol...

Debbie
Loosing an hour....

We watched Love Actually on Saturday night which was really funny in places and really sloppy in others, overall it was a really enjoyable romantic comedy. We started watching In America but found it hard going because it was getting late and we were tired so we stopped it half way through before we both fell asleep.

We overlaid on Sunday morning, then when we got downstairs and realized we'd overlaid an hour longer than we thought we had due to the clocks going forward an hour for British Summertime. So we sacked the kitchen again and went off to Dads's for an hour, Lucy always loves to go there but is still not too fond of travelling in the car.

In the afternoon we watched the rest of In America, which we still could not get into properly and by the end we didn't really know what was going on. There wasn't much on telly for a Sunday night, but Born and Bread came to the rescue which is always a good laugh and then we watched this new drama Passer By which is basically about a man (James Nesbit) who witnesses a woman being harassed on a train but doesn't really do anything about it, then later it transpires that the woman was raped after he got off the train. It really is a thought provoking drama and we'll be tuning in tonight for part two.

Here is todays ickle story.....

A sales rep, an administration clerk and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out in a puff of smoke. The Genie says, "I usually only grant three wishes, so I'll give each of you just one." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. In astonishment, "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an Endless supply of pina coladas and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

Bob The Builder

We’ve got one whole wall done in the kitchen with the tongue and groove. I thought putting laminate flooring down last summer was hard but this doesn’t half take it out of you, even if I did only spend about 4 hours on it today. I’ll crack on again with it tomorrow and see if I can do another wall, although the other 3 walls have got obstacles in the way so there’s going to be a lot of cutting out to be done and there will probably be some swearing and downing of tools while I find something to kick.

We’ve been and got supplies ......... tiger beer, vodka, gin and cointreau. We love cointreau with lemonade, it like drinking pop and doesn’t seem to result in a hangover in the morning.

Our Ghost Ship dvd threw a wobbly half way through when we tried it last night, so we took it back to the shop today. We got that exchanged and also rented In America and Love Actually to watch tonight instead of the rubbish on TV.

Here is today Quote or should we say funny ickle story....

A priest was driving along and saw a nun on the side of the road. He stopped and offered her a lift which she accepted. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to open and reveal a sexy leg. The priest had a look and nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun looked at him and immediately said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest was flustered and apologized profusely. He forced himself to remove his hand. Changing gear, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" Once again the priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun got out gave him a meaningful glance and went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to retrieve a bible and looked up Psalm 129.It Said, "Go forth and seek. Further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story:
If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Paul is busy doing the kitchen today and we are not stopping till its finished.......this could be one long day....lol....

Will take some piccies when its all done and looking lovely...

Debbies Quote of the day......

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. After a few seconds of arguing over which one should go and answer the doorbell, the wife gives up, quickly wraps herself up in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word,
Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel that you have on" After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her 800 dollars and leaves.
Confused, but excited about her good fortune, the woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets back to the bathroom, her husband asks from the shower, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story:
If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Here endeth the lesson...lol...

Thought I had better add something as Paul is doing a daily report....

Debbie
Car Wash

We took Debbie's car to the car wash last night, we hoovered the car first, I was doing my best with the length of hose available while Debbie was supervising. It wouldn't reach the boot at all so she turned the car round while waved the hose around in the air like an idiot. We decided it was too cold for a jet wash so I was sent back inside the garage for a token for the proper car wash. I got the token along with a large yorkie I hadn't asked for (chocolate, not a small dog), it appears there is an offer on at the moment, buy a car wash token and get a free yorkie. It's always great when you get something for free that you weren't expecting and just a little bit suspicious.

Puff The Magic Dragon

Wednesday night on TV has been lacking lately but a new series started last night called Dragons Alive and looked like it was worth watching, especially as Debbie loves anything to do with dragons. Last night's instalment was all about the larger predator reptiles like, crocodiles, turtles, snakes and the 'not to be messed with' komodo dragon. It was thoroughly enjoyable and informative, we'll certainly be tuning in again next week.

Spring is in the air....

Well the dust was last night.. We managed to spring clean the living room, it only took us an hour and it's looking much nicer now. We must have had more candles than your average candle shop dotted about all over the place. We just keep buying them even though we ran out of space for them ages ago. After a nice meal and a glass of Bicardi & Coke, we walked Lucy down to our local shop and got another bottle of Bicardi. We were very good though, only had one more glass and then retired upstairs to watch Brat Camp which has been interesting to watch over the last couple of weeks. I wonder if we could send Misty, our grumpy cat.

Sunshine & Showers

What a lovely day here in Yorkshire, the sun is shining, the air is crisp with a gentle breeze.... and a birds just shit on my car. I'm sure the pigeons round here are sponsored by Turtle Wax. It's certainly got quite a bit colder over the last couple of days, the weather forecast even mentions snow for some higher parts today but seeing as we don't live half way up a mountain I don't think we'll see any here.

Paul
Mind the bugs.

We were supposed to be starting a spring clean of the house last night but Debbie wasn't feeling too well so we had to leave that until tonight. There seams to be a nasty stomach bug going round these parts at the moment. So we had to settle for chilling on the sofa watching Eastenders and Ground Force and then retired upstairs and watched Time Team who were in Sheffield looking at remains of old steelworks, not our normal cup of tea but interesting none the less. Debbie's feeling a little better this morning so it looks it's out with the dusters tonight!

How to waste money:

Saw this new headline from the BBC today and couldn't believe what I was reading. Surgeon suspended over soup claim Maybe it's just me but suspending a brain surgeon for slipping a portion of croutons into his soup is just plain nuts! The tax payer foots the bill while he's not doing his job, and pays for an investigation into foul play at the crouton counter. Couldn't they have just asked for the fifty pence (or whatever the price of the croutons was).

Paul
Where did the weekend go?

After last week dragging by, where did the weekend go? On Saturday we were up bright and early off shopping for some plain headbands for the bride and bridesmaid, we managed to find some at a warehouse in Sheffield. Then the plans for working on the kitchen went on the back burner while Debbie made the bridesmaid headband and very good it looks too! I amused myself by adding the halo comments system to out blog, not sure what the trackback system is all about but I'll leave it there until I find out.

We went to a 70's party on Saturday night which was a good laugh, just to see all those 70's costumes ..lol.. I drew the short straw and was driving while Debbie had a glass or three of white wine. When we got back home we opened a large bottle wine and sat down and watched American Pie 2. I finished most of the wine on my own by the time the film ended and did I pay for it on Sunday morning!

With me having a hangover on Sunday, we had to abandon the kitchen again. We did manage a trip to Dad's and called in at Morrisons one the way home for some supplies, which for once, didn't include any alcohol ..lol.. I spent the rest of the afternoon nursing a sore head while Debbie made her headband which turned out lovely, you can't tell it's not been made by someone who been making them for years. We got the seating arrangements done for the wedding and I think we are going to send the invites out as soon as we've done the kitchen to give people plenty of time to book rooms for an overnight stay.

Finally we sat down and watched Born & Bread on TV before catching up on some much needed zzzzzz's.

Thank crunchie it's Friday!

This week has really dragged on and on. We've been out and bought loads more stuff for the wedding, Debbie's going to try her hand at making a head band which will make it more special than if we just bought one 'off the shelf'. We've got a few more bit's and pieces to decorate the tables with, think we're going to need a stock take soon to keep track of what we've got and what we still need to get ...lol... We'll have to get the bar booked this weekend, that would be a disaster if there were no drinks flowing!

The weather prospects don't look too good for the weekend, doesn't matter too much as we're going to be working on the kitchen again and hopefully get a good proportion of it finished.

Misty and Toddy woke us at 6am this morning as usual, which is great, the only problem is, there is no snooze control and we can't switch them off at the weekend! We gave the cats some catnip drops earlier in the week, didn't have any effect on Todd who is always dashing about like he's on something, but Misty was rolling on his back spaced out . . . I'm thinking we should try some ...lol...

Zippy's not been out much this week, we open the cage door for him most nights and he comes out if he wants to, when he's ready for bed, he pulls the cage door shut and then one of us locks it, just in case he fancies and midnight stroll!

Lucy's been good all week, she's not touched the tongue and groove that we put up last weekend, we half expected it to be chewed when we got home. She does try and get in the rabbit hutch when we're feeding Bungie, one of these days we'll leave Lucy in the hutch and take Bungie inside ..lol..

Not sure what we're having for tea tonight, the last few Friday's we've had Chinese but we had a take-away on Wednesday so we might give it miss tonight and cook something . . . then again we might not ..lol.. One things for sure, we'll be having a glass of wine/beer or three and relaxing after a very long week.

P.S. Were addicted to Yeti Sports at the moment ...lol...

Paul ended up on his arse for the first time ...lol... The kite was realy pulling, it's good job we got the smaller one or we would have ended up being dragged into the lake ...lol...

Hello campers!

With the kitchen tiles off, we were off with our new kite to Cannon Hall in Barnsley. There wasn't much wind but it still flew like a dream :-) It's an Ozone Imp power kite and we just pulled it out of the bag straight into the air. It was a liitle bit quick even in the light wind and Debbie had a little trouble at first avoiding my head ..lol.. We can't wait to take it out again in stronger winds, not sure it's going to be this weekend though as I think snow/sleet/rain/hail has been forecast so we might have to stay in the nice warm kitchen . . . putting tongue and groove on the walls...

Here are some recent photos......

A whole 3 inches of snow the other week :-)

Zippy comes out of his cage... getting quite good at this now :-)

Here is the Imp at 10,000ft..... err.... maybe 20ft anyway ...lol...

This is Paul trying to look like he knows what he's doing ...lol...lmao

Untill next time.....
