Finished carpeting the stairs last night, it would have been a whole lot easier if the staples didn't stick in the gun and we didn't have to open it up and nudge them down with a pair of scissors for every shot.
They look great though and now all the DIY is done for this year! Now we can start with the Christmas decorations!

Perfect DIY Weather
I've been on holiday since Monday and it's been raining much of the time which has been great news. If it had been hot sunshine, I'd have been dischuffed hat having to get a few jobs done over the last 3 days. With the lovely cooler weather I've managed to get all the edging down over the laminate floor and made a wooden bath panel. Still loads to do but that's it for now, I'm on strike!
Debbie finishes work today and then we're both off until a week on Tuesday! I think we'll be getting out and about more than we managed during our May holiday. I'm not sure Mablethorpe will be on the cards, even though we've not been for a whole week!

Speed Shopping For Carpet
We headed off to Lakeside at Doncaster on Saturday, hitting the Next Clearance sales and loading the car boot full of bargains. The planned crashing on the sofa did materialize but not until tea time after we'd gone through all the new clothes and used a crowbar to get them into the wardrobe.
Debbie heard an advert for a carpet shop on the radio during the week so we looked it up and set off on Sunday morning. Ten minutes after entering the shop we were leaving again, carpet chosen, ordered and booked to be fitted next weekend. Onwards to B&Q to get all the bits we needed to get the bathroom sorted out before the carpet arrives, paint, brushes, skirting board, no more nails, new light fittings...
We got started as soon as we got back, replacing a couple of sections of skirting board and then got a coat of white paint on the walls, ceiling and door. It's that pink paint that dries white and I must say it looks better than it smells, it absolutely stinks! We've got another coat to get on tonight, we'll be glad when it's done, dried and fumigated!

Painting Walls Instead Of Eggs
Just a quick update, we're still here and still very flippin busy!
Over the Easter weekend, we painted the stairs, painted the landing, painted the bedroom and wallpapered the living room. There is still a little more papering to do and then we can start on putting up the cladding round the stairs and fireplace. After that, all we've got to do is the dining room, which should be finished just in time for work to start on the bathroom, which is being moved around before the ceiling is repaired, then we can start on the tiling and painting in there.
Apparently we had nice weather over the bank holiday weekend!

Run For The Hills . . .
. . . should you ever here the knee trembling phrase "I think we need some new curtains".
Spending all day on Saturday sorting out the spare bedroom was the hard part of the weekend, or so I thought until Sunday. How hard can it be to find a pair of blue or beige curtains? Well, after spending all day trudging round every textile boutique in town, it seems that this task is a tad harder than impossible. The impending decorating marathon in the bedroom, bathroom, living room and dining room will be a walk in the park in comparison.

Stripping Off
Yesterday was quite manic, looking after Lollypop and getting the kitchen finished off with a couple of trips to the supermarket thrown in for good measure. Debbie’s still trying to shake off flu so rather than going out for a meal or anything for valentines, we stayed in last night and sampled a couple of bottles of wine.
Today I’m stripping the wallpaper in the bathroom and it’s proving to be much harder than I thought. We’ve got a steamer but because the walls have been skimmed it tends to fetch off the plaster as well so I’m just using a wet sponge and a blade. I’ve just about got one wall done with two more still to go so I might still be on with it tomorrow.
Lucy and Lollypop are getting on famously, at the moment they’re curled up on the sofa together, tired out after helping me in the bathroom this morning. We’ll be able to take them out for a walk next weekend and I’m dreading letting Lolly off the lead and having to shout ‘Lollypop’ across the field ..lol..

Another bank holiday over and done with!
Well we got stuck into the kitchen on saturday, this is a long job, lots of fiddley bits to do!!
Sunday we went to Llandudno, very nice indeed, apart from following Debbie's brother in law on the motorway, talk about a snail overtaking us!! boy it was pain staking......We first had to drive to the other side of Manchester with took an hour and then from Debbie's sisters house to Llandudno took another 2 hours....Talk about road rage.....
Coming home we set off first and it in record time, Debbie driving of course, Wales to South Yorkshire in 2 hours...was like Sterling Moss...lol...
Today we have been sorting the kitchen again, nearly finished just the edging and the varnishing to do...yippee....
Then its time to do the stairs and the bathroom, think Paul will be leaving home soon with all these jobs Ive got planned for him...lol...
Time for a nice hot soak and watch a good film me thinks, Paul is planning on getting drunk, thats if he stays awake long enough....lol..

Never ending jobs
Well, I got stuck into the kithcen again today and got loads more done, but there is still loads to do... and I ran out of wood. We've been to the DIY store and picked up more supplies and are now hoping that we'll be able to finish off tomorrow. I came quite close to sawing my wrist today but got away with just catching my finger with the saw, but it did draw blood and that's enough to send me dizzy. We're chilling tonight in front of the telly, flicking through the TV guide, the usual shite severed up has been replaced by extra speacial bank holiday shite. Time to open another bottle of wine me thinks, while we discuss our holiday day trip plans, show me the lions!

Bob the Builder .. Part 2
Finally got around to doing some more work on the kitchen on Sunday and this time had a full day at it. I've got all the batons on now, which I think is the hardest part. It went quite well, never threw anything or kicked anything but I did come close when I fell off the ladder and pulled part of a kitchen cupboard off. It's taken 97 screws and plugs which explains why it's taken so long, the tongue and groove can go up now using a nail gun which is a lot more fun and a lot less hassle. Hopefully, we'll get the kitchen more or less finished on Friday and then we can get out and about during our holiday.
