Christmas Shopping

We made a start on this years Christmas shopping over the weekend and I think everyone else in the area had the same idea. I'm glad we got to the retail park half an hour before the shops opened because after only 5 minutes there was almost an accident in the car park and a few minutes later two drivers almost came to blows!

With the bulk of the shopping out of the way now, there's just a few bits and pieces to pick up when we can find the time over the next couple of weeks. Next on the agenda is a new Christmas tree, the old one is looking a little bit weathered having being stored out side when we moved her last year. I'm not sure what we'll go for this year, Debbie would like another white one while I quite fancy going back to traditional green but we both quite like the idea of having a real tree this year.

We can't believe it's December on Friday, it's still so mild here, we'll be pumping those Christmas tunes out to get us into the festive mood while we have a few glasses of Christmas Spirit.

Dracula For Christmas

News has been filtering though about the Christmas TV schedules this year and one thing that's caught my eye already is a BBC adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

We've both love anything about the Prince Of Darkness, it's a story you can really sink your teeth into.... sorry!

Good Old Saturday Morning Telly

It looks like Chris Tarrant is going to be getting the gang together next year for a Tiswas special, I'd love to see this as being a follower of Multi-Coloured Swap Shop on Saturday mornings, I never got to see the mayhem on the other side. Look out for the Phantom Flan Flinger!

Swap Shop will be back first though as Noel Edmunds is returning this Christmas with a 2 hour long edition... top banana!

Party Time

After a night in watching Terry Wogan and Co. on Friday, we headed out for a 40th birthday party on Saturday. Debbie looked fantastic in her new outfit, the only problem is, her new trousers only just stayed up and I think we might be looking at another new wardrobe before Christmas!

We had a great time at the party, most people had gone in Hollywood themed fancy dress and some of the costumers were great, one that stood out was Darth Vader (and it should have at £600 lol).

Debbie drove us there so stuck to soda water while I downed pints of John Smiths like it was going out of fashion, I paid the price later though when half of it came back up!

We're both having a think about what and how much we drink at the weekend, having lost all this weight, we just can't consume the number of tipples in an evening like we used to and not feel completely hung over in the morning.

Blogger Labels

Since upgrading to Blogger Beta, I've been working my way though past posts adding labels to them, all 800 of the pesky blighters! The process is now complete, however, I think one or two might be in the wrong section, I'll just have to swap them over when I come across them.

It's been great looking back on topics like our wedding, our pets and of course, the snow! One thing this process has shown is that many of our posts waffle on about so many different things, they could do with all 20 labels, these I've marked as general, otherwise I'd be here for years trying to catch up!

Children In Need

It’s late November and a yellow bear keeps popping up all over the place, it can mean only one thing…

This years Children In Need appeal is just round the corner, tomorrow night in fact!

We’ve got the booze and munchies in ready, it’s like Eurovision, you just can’t be expected to watch this thing sober!

Another Milestone!

Today is weigh day and I'm pleased to report that Debbie has now lost an amazing 4 stone and 1 pound, or if you like, 57 pounds since June!

Quiet Weekend

For once, we’re chilling out a bit, just a few house chores yesterday and a little bit of work in the garden this morning.

The top of the garden, where the greenhouse once stood, is looking miles better with all the rubbish gone and is now ready for the new patio which we’re planning to start early next year.

We’ve also put up two nest boxes and a new bird table, we’ve decided to keep the old one and have two tables on the go through winter. The bird population round here is going to better fed than we are!

We had our bonfire on Saturday night and now all the tree branches and bits of green house have gone!

Greenfinches Drop By

Last weekend was Feeds The Birds Day and not a single bird did we see all weekend. Our feathered freinds must be getting used to the new set up now because first the Starlings were back in force...

Then I couldn't believe my eyes, seeing not one but four Greenfinch on the new feeder!

I'm well chuffed that the birdies are tucking in to their winter supplies, hopefully we'll have a few more visitors before too long.

Winter Is On The Way!

Our favourite season of the year is on the way, the autumn colours are finally coming through and this morning we had our first frost!

No sign of any snow yet, not here anyway, Sweden seems to have had their fare share over the last couple of days, I thought it was only us British that got caught out by snow!

Another area that's been seeing snow lately is Finland, there's a bucket load of snow laden web cameras here on the Finnish Road Administration web site.

Relentless

It's been busy over the last few days, the new roof went up on Friday, we went out shopping on Saturday, got lost trying to find a Market on Sunday, Dad came over for Sunday dinner and I've been off to Birmingham on a course for two days.
