Bempton To The Rescue

We set off on Saturday morning for a day at the coast, Ravenscar to be precise. We were hoping to get down to the beach there but after an hour walking through insect infested fields, we got nowhere. We even stumbled into an area with a warning sign to keep dogs on a lead due to Adders! I'm no fan of snakes, especially poisenoius ones so I made sure they all cleared off by stomping about until we escaped the snake pit!

Naffed off by the whole experience, we headed down the coast to RSPB Bempton, safe from snakes, buzzy things and paths leading to nowhere. The cliffs were still lively with Gannets, Kittiwakes, Puffins and gulls of all shapes and sizes going about their business.

Here is a collection of shots taken by Debbie.

After being woken up at 4.45am by Lucy needing to go, we had the car serviced n MOT, hence another tyre needed, Saturday afernoon we chilled with some good films.

Just before the sun (what little we had of it) disappeared altogether, I wondered round our garden to see if any new plants are growing.

Here are a few shots I managed to get

Tropical World

We visited Tropical World in Leeds on Sunday, we've been a couple of times before but they didn't seem to have as many butterflies this time. In fact they didn't seem to have as much of anything, not many birds and no sign of any Meerkats.

On top of the dwindling exhibits, the heat in there was unbearable, it was hot and humid before but on Sunday we could almost swim round! Still, we did manage a few pictures before running off in search of an ice cream van!

Next time we're thinking along the lines of exotic butterflies, we'll stick with Tropical Butterfly House in Sheffield.

Hot & Sunny Flamborough

On Saturday that plan was to go to Tropical World in Leeds to get some shots of butterflies, this was because the weather forecast for the weekend was for rain all day. We awoke very early to be greeted by sunshine and the new weather forecast was completely differing, sunshine all day!

So we decided to go with an earlier plan, back to Flamborough for a proper look after a brief visit earlier in the year.

We set off walking from the North Landing hoping to make it all the way to Bempton but with the scorching heat and the heavy going, we eventually gave up and made our way back. Rather walking along the cliffs on the other side of the bay as last time, we made our way down a very steep hill to the beach and explored the cliffs and rocks sea level.

Below are a selection of images we captured from this beautiful stretch of the Yorkshire Coast.

Return To The Meadow

Had a quick wander round the meadow this afternoon, on the hunt for butterflies. There are still loads of those Six Spot Burnet Moths about but there was also plenty more to chase about in the sunshine.

Just to keep us on our toes, we had to be extra quick in getting any shot before Lucy came to investage what we were looking at!
